in between packing...
my back, arms and head ache from all my activities today ... my last thursday in Oz.
started the day swimming, i managed to make a few laps. if not for my eyes easily sensitive to chlorine, i could have swam more. then i dropped off the winter clothes i borrowed from Tammy to the dry cleaners (3 pcs for 30 freakin AUD!), then i braved the wind and went to hunt for the pavlova (aussie dessert) from Michel's Patisserie in TGV. Got back to the apt to eat the pavlova and get my jacket, as it was friggin cold outside. Amidst the windy and rainy weather, i still opted to walk from my apt to circular quay to go to the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
MCA is uber cool and fascinating. I'm not the artsy-fartsy type, but I love being sorrounded by Art. I even watched that Yinka Shonibare video which majority of the time, I was too amused to even comprehend what exactly the actions/dance choreography meant. I would love to visit this place again, whenever that is.
After MCA, the rain was getting heavier, but i still didn't bother to open my umbrella because the was was freeznig my hand. I busied myself window shopping from George st. then to Pitt st mall, where i met up with Yas at Centerpoint.
From Pitt st mall we rode a bus to Broadway Shopping Center. We bought drinks from EasyWay, so just imagine how my hand was so numb from the iced drink and wind. Went to Target and K-Mart, and i was feeling the torture of bringing the 2 curtains I bought from Lincraft while i continued shopping. We parted ways after where I then headed to Market City to check out some shops (didn't I say that Thursday is shopping day in Oz? hehe).
After passing by the grocery store to buy more tape, I went home to cook myself dinner and then started packing for my "balikbayan box". I got so much stuff to bring home, bits n pieces I bought the past 7 weeks I was here in Sydney. And I need to put as much this box can handle so I can free some space in my suitcase since I'm still going to pass by Singapore before going back home.
I'm so excited for this box to reach my house. But right now, I'm dead exhausted. All I want is to sleep and not go to work tomorrow.

countdown
I'm going back to Manila in 2 weeks. Sydney is a really beautiful city, and my stay here was really one of, if not, the highlight in my whole existence, for the moment, at the very least.
I feel like I'm "cramming". There's still a lot of places I want to visit, but I can't because I have to work, and I don't have much free time left. Plus, I feel like I need to save what's left of per diem because I won't be getting paid for the next 2 months because of the travel cash advance I made before I left for here. But I can't keep my mind away from that lomo cam, that 30 AUD Roxy sling bag, that summer dress in Valley girl, and that...
What I love about my stay here:
*Going to the beach is hassle-free, you don't have to worry about transpo and accomodation.
*I can reach landmarks, gimik places, malls by walking. You can walk for miles without breaking a sweat.
*People boarding the train give way to people going out. No long queues to get in the station. No congested coaches.
*Getting home late is not a problem.
*There's always a park nearby.
*Everything seems so cheap, just don't convert them to pesos.
*Sushi everywhere!
*Veg food easily accessible.
*Ice Creams and Smiths potato chips.
*Green bags, less use of plastics/papers when buying stuff
*I can be girly girly without getting too much attention

6-yr-old-worker
Oct 14...
6 yrs in the corporate world...
1 company... 2 projects... 3 teams...
Best way to spend it in a foreign country while being bombarded by requests to clear up all the mess from last week... ended the day with a nice dinner at the sushi train. And oh i got myself a nice anniversary present - a yellow nano-chromatic (took advantaged of the low AUD conversion).
****
My Friday "me-myself-and-I" self-guided tour will be deferred to next week because my manager, brilliantly scheduled a team BBQ. Oh well, the lunch seems fun anyway.

Thank God For Ice Cream!
I'm not a big ice cream fan back in Manila, but since they've go loads of flavors here in this part of the world, might as well enjoy them, right?!

Gelatassimo, Darling Harbour

Royal Copenhagen, Manly (i love the Royal Copenhagen flavor!)

Tams & Welms enjoying their cones

Baskin Robbins, Circular Quay (World Famous Chocolate & Praline Chocolate -- so sinful!)
No picture: French Riviera's humongous Mix ice cream(love the kiwi, sherbet or something like that).
Next on the list: Cold Rock and Lindt Cafe.
